Cinnabanana-Nut Yoghurt

Oh hai, remember me? I’d like to share a new breakfast that I’m pretty pleased about. The ingredients can be bought very cheaply, it’s nothing but healthy whole foods, it’s so delicious it could be a dessert, and it only takes a minute to prepare.

It’s not mind-blowingly innovative but I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it sooner. While breakfast is arguably Mr Zissou’s favourite meal and he’s always trying to feed me bacon and french toast, I’m not really a morning eater and prefer something light. I get bored very quickly with cereal and like the idea of getting my 1 of 5-a-day pieces of fruit early which is how I arrived at Tempest’s Cinnabanana-nut Yoghurt (c’mon, it needed a name):

Throw the following in a bowl, mix and enjoy:

  1. One sliced banana
  2. Three tablespoons of plain yoghurt or fromage frais
  3. A sprinkle of crushed walnuts (or unsalted nuts of your choice)
  4. A dash of cinnamon
  5. Optional teaspoon of honey OR peanut butter to sweeten

You can also add some oats or bran if you prefer something more substantial. Enjoy!

On a personal note: I know it’s been ages since the last post on this blog so I thank you for sticking around while my blog went through its rebellious adolescence. There have been a lot of changes in my life and I am now writing my PhD thesis aka the biggest and most important document of my life. I was also starting to feel a bit suffocated by blogging, becoming a little too focused on blog stats, and the pressure to maintain my presence on social media was becoming a burden. This was probably fueled by reading articles like “50 ways your blog is a disappointment” and “60 ways humanity depends on your next blog post”.  I needed a little break to regain some perspective and remind myself that not every aspect of life has to be fastidiously documented and that I actually blog for fun. After some time for reflection I realised that I do miss and love my blog, so it’s something I will be returning to but with a healthier mindset. Ultimately I blog because I love to document and collect, have an outlet for my creativity, share ideas and solutions that make other people’s lives better or inspire them, and interact with a community of like-minded people like you!
